Betrayal trauma is sometimes the result form infidelity. Betrayal is a death of a relationship, whether it is emotional infidelity, sexual infidelity, or gaslighting, you might experience reactions similar to those of trauma. Some of the symptoms are similar to those of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. You also might be experiencing the betrayal more intensely due to attachment trauma that was experienced as a child. This can be a very unsettling and painful life transition.
People who have experienced betrayal trauma and infidelity can experience symptoms like these:
Guilt and Shame
Depression
Anxiety
Feeling Numb
Withdrawn Socially
Nightmares and Flashbacks
Low self-esteem
Lack of Trust
Anger and Irritability
Tearfulness

The stress related to betrayal trauma can negatively impact people both emotionally and physically. The good news is that it can be treated effectively with appropriate trauma care.
